What We Stand For

Our Core Pillars

01

Global Reach

With a presence across more than 40 countries, we navigate complex international markets to deliver seamless trade and distribution solutions.

02

Local Intelligence

Our teams are embedded in the markets they serve — providing on-the-ground expertise that turns local insight into global advantage.

03

Long-Term Vision

We invest in people, partnerships, and platforms with a generational perspective — building businesses that endure, not just transactions that close.
— Manufacturing Process

From Forest to
Export-Ready Flake

Over decades of refining our process, we have built a manufacturing pipeline that delivers consistent purity, grade accuracy, and full traceability  from raw lac harvest in Jharkhand to sealed, tested, export-ready shellac flakes.

01

Raw Lac Sourcing
Stick lac is harvested from host trees in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, selected for optimal resin quality and purity before processing begins.

02

Crushing & Sieving
Raw lac is crushed and precision-sieved to separate resin from wood, bark, and insect matter — yielding clean, refined seedlac.

03

Washing & Purification
Multiple washing stages remove soluble impurities and colour bodies, achieving the clarity required for food and pharmaceutical applications.

04

Heat Processing & Dewaxing
Controlled heat melts and filters the resin. For dewaxed grades, wax is reduced to below 0.2% — meeting E904 food-grade and USP/BP pharma specifications.

05

Flaking & Grading
Purified resin is formed into uniform thin flakes, then graded by colour, wax content, and moisture to precise buyer specifications.

06

Lab Testing
Every batch is tested for acid value, moisture, wax content, and — for food and pharma grades — heavy metals and microbial counts against COA limits.

07

Packaging & Documentation
Packed in sealed moisture-proof bags with full batch COA, MSDS, and export compliance documentation ready for international shipment.

08

Export & Dispatch
Shipped FOB from Kolkata or Mumbai with complete customs documentation. Reliable lead times and dedicated export support for first-time and repeat buyers.

Everything You Need to Know Before Importing Shellac

Specifications, grades, HS codes, import duties and application guides, answered for international buyers.”

01   Product & Specifications

Shellac flake prices vary by grade, color, and order volume — typically ranging from USD 5 to 12 per kg for standard grades. Dewaxed pharmaceutical and food-grade shellac commands a premium. FOB pricing from India is significantly more competitive than landed cost in the USA or EU.

Pricing is also influenced by raw lac harvest cycles, global demand, and seasonal availability. Request a current quote specifying grade, quantity, and packaging requirements.

Shellac is classified internationally under HS Code 1301.10 (Lac, including shellac). This code applies to customs declarations, duty calculations, and trade documentation across all major importing countries including the USA, EU member states, UK, Japan, and Australia.

Some jurisdictions apply sub-headings — dewaxed shellac may be listed under 1301.10.10. Always confirm the destination-specific tariff code with your customs broker before shipment.

HS 1301.10 — Lac / Shellac

Wax shellac retains its naturally occurring wax content of 3–5%. It is well-suited for wood polish, French polishing, varnishes, and industrial coatings where wax does not affect performance.

Dewaxed shellac has wax removed to below 0.2%, resulting in improved clarity, adhesion, and solubility — the required grade for food glazing (E904), pharmaceutical tablet coatings, and any application demanding a clean, clear finish.

Dewaxed: <0.2% wax — required for food & pharma

Food grade: Dewaxed shellac meeting E904 specifications is used for candy glazing, fruit coating, chocolate polishing, and confectionery. It must comply with purity standards set by JECFA (WHO/FAO) and regional food safety authorities.

Pharmaceutical grade: USP or BP grade dewaxed shellac is used for enteric tablet coatings and controlled-release formulations, with tighter limits on acid value, wax content, heavy metals, and microbial counts.

Food: E904 Dewaxed  ·  Pharma: USP / BP Grade

Standard shellac flakes should not exceed 2–3% moisture by weight. Excess moisture causes clumping, reduces shelf life, and creates inconsistent solubility. Premium suppliers deliver material below 2% moisture.

Always request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) listing the moisture value per batch — especially critical for food and pharmaceutical applications where limits are strictly defined.

Maximum 2–3%  ·  Premium grade: <2%
